I realize that the question itself seems to be self-explanatory, but the focus of KAINOS is that of Union with Christ. This is a truth that is taught all over Scripture, but unfortunately, it is not focused on much at all or is simply ignored. Just consider a few of the many passages of Scripture that teach this great truth.
Ephesians 1:3–6– Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
1 Corinthians 1:30–31– And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.
Romans 6:3–5– Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Romans 5:10– For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Romans 5:19– For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
These 5 passages are merely the tip of the iceberg. What do we learn from these particular passages? How are we saved? We are saved by Jesus’ life. How powerful is that truth! My salvation was earned by the perfect God-Man. He did it right! In Him I am saved.
Secondly, I am righteous through his obedience. My standing with God was secured by Jesus’ perfect obedience and righteousness. So, where is our righteousness? Our righteousness is seated at the right hand of God.
What else do we learn? Well, we died with Christ. We were buried with him and we have been raised with him so that now, in light of our resurrection to come, we are empowered now to walk in newness of life. This is our hope, our strength, and our motivation to pursue that for which Christ has laid hold of us. He is our resurrection. He is our guarantee of resurrection.
What is Jesus to his sheep? He is our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Just let this reality sink in. The wisdom I need is Jesus. The righteousness I need to stand before the Father is Jesus. Jesus is the guarantee of my sanctification and growth in godliness. He not only redeemed me, but He is my redemption. All that we need for life and godliness we have in Christ.
The Apostle Paul teaches us that we must RECKON with these truths. The word “reckon” is like an accounting term, which refers to our placing into our account all that is mine in Jesus. So, the focus of KAINOS ministries is to lead people to Christ, including believers, for power, encouragement, and true satisfaction of heart.
